What is Remy Hair

If you’ve ever had or wanted hair extensions, then you’ve probably heard the words “Remy Hair” before. But, what IS Remy hair exactly? Is Remy Hair just another “buzz” phrase that is used in the hair extension world?

•  What is Remy Hair  •

Remy Hair is when all of the hair in the extensions is real human hair.  Additionally, nearly all of the strands are strictly organized with the roots in one direction and the tip to the opposite end. Remy Hair is regarded as the superior choice of hair extensions. Remy Hair is considered to be the finest quality of human hair because the cuticles are kept intact and not stripped, like in most other non-Remy hair extensions. Preserving the hairs’ cuticles and aligning them in a unidirectional fashion creates extensions that are completely natural in appearance. Remy hair ONLY means that all cuticles are intact and facing in the same direction.

Remy hair (sometimes spelled Remi) means that the cuticle layer for the hair extension is still intact. The hair  has been collected from donors (women with long hair) and is processed into extensions with all the cuticles facing in the same direction. Just imagine a long ponytail being cut off and extensions made out of it. This results in premium hair extensions that will last much longer than chemically altered non-Remy hair.

Hidden Crown Hair Extensions are also double drawn!  Double drawn indicates that the collected hair of a certain length has all of the shorter hairs in the bundle manually removed twice, hence the ‘double’ drawn. This means that hair extensions that are double drawn will have (nearly) as many hair strands at one end as the other and appear much thicker and not wispy at the ends. This process is very laborious, and therefore makes the extensions very expensive.
